Is America following in the foot steps of the Roman Empire?

In his book "The Lion", Nelson DeMille had one of his characters state in referring to the Romans thusly, "They squandered the hard-won wealth of their forefathers, and lived like maggots on the on the decaying corpse their empire."

This refers to their political, social, and worst of all, moral decay from within.

America is suffering the same slippery slope and gaining speed with every second we stay the course of current politicians, giant corporations and socialist ideologues  whose lack of morals bring Americans to their knees.

The political decay, corrupt ministering and lack of any responsibility for the crimes committed against "The Constitution", and the American people collectively and individually by the Obama administration are all to legion and massive to explain  here. However, I feel it runs the gamut from petty theft to murder and treason.

To me the most sad point is that under this, darkest of all administrations record numbers of Americans go to bed without jobs, are underemployed and their families must depend on others to feed them.  

Some are just creatures of the dole, while many more have been made to rely on their fellow working Americans and families to keep a crust on the table.  All due to the failing social programs of Obama and his ilk.

The phrase on a plaque at the Statue of Liberty written by Emma Lazarus says, "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." 

This has greeted  since the early 1900's, but the closing line of the sonnet is most often left off, "The wretched refuse of your teeming shore."

Today America is starving.  Literally, starving.  The US Dept. of Agriculture reports that as of 16 June 2013 there are more people on food stamps than ever before.  The number of people feeding themselves and their families on the taxes and backs of the working Americans.

Many of those now needing help are people who have never had to ask for a handout and find it difficult to do so.  They are good, hard working Americans who through their circumstance show the fallacies of the OBAMA ECONOMY!

Under Obama, the cost of the SNAP (food stamps) has doubled and according to the USDA this is $80,000,000,000.00 and account for 80% of farm bill spending.  Why not put SNAP management under the IRS?

In the Obama Economy, America can not find jobs for our citizens so the few who are working are paying to support the 1 in 7 who can't find employment.  Charitable organization such as food banks are finding that their shelves are empty, others who help with shelters various types of aid have exhausted their limited funds as Working Americans are barely able to keep food on their own tables, gas in their cars and pay the exorbitant utility bills.
