Having just finished reading "Killing Kennedy", having been 20 years old when he was assassinated, and having seen him in person when he appeared at Pocatello High School with the other socialist Senator Frank Church, I would like to give my opinion on "Camelot".
Camelot always has been mythical, there never was a Lancelot, a Guinevere, a Merlin, not an Arthur, nor a roundtable of wise gracious, courageous knights.
While the Kennedy wished for such a place, neither his fathers nor his wealth, power, strong arming and charm could make a national Camelot.
JFK was a weak man who followed his fathers orders and certainly his fathers and brothers infidelity to their wives and church.
There was no Camelot for those abandoned by the coward Kennedy at the Bay of Pigs, there was no Camelot for the thousands of young Americans thrown into Vietnam (many of whom suffer in the cold ,windy, grey wall of the shadowy myth.
The Kennedy's, the O'Reilly's, Kerry's, Hunt's, Obamas, Reid's, Pelosi's, Soros, Boxer's, McCain's, Gore's, Bush's, Feinstien's of this world with their massive wealth and power still exist in their own "Camelot" and tell the other 99% to eat cake when oatmeal isn't available.
The Kennedy Clan are the true epitome of a legend in their own minds and Joseph Kennedy Sr. was a mediocre president at best through his puppet.
