A while ago I talked about the (DRAFT) Reinventing Journalism proposal. This would essential tax public electronic communications to the point where it would be economically unfeasible to have such equipment or the service providers for them. The monies taken by these taxes would be to fund administration programs to pay for people to learn how to report the propaganda of the administration.
The Muslim World has taken this a bit further. They don't need the money, as they are bleeding America dry with there oil prices. The are essentially religious, fanatical, dictatorships. Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia are curtailing the use of blackberries and other personal communications devices. Some are considering a total ban on such services.
Saudi Arabia is reconsidering a total ban as the American oil companies which give them so much money and rely heavily on such communication have put a bit of a bluster.
Obama and his ilk can only hope to maintain a lead in congress to allow them to do the same.
